John McKeith Biography

As an environmental and a commercial photographer, I have created images for publication for nearly two decades. I share my time between commercial assignments across the country and photographic trips to the deep forests and remote lakes and rivers of northern New England.

I bring my passion for the natural world to you through my photographs, including these gallery images and many others that have been published by organizations such as the Sierra Club, National Audubon Society, The Wilderness Society, The Trust for Public Land, and the Appalachian Mountain Club.

As a strong advocate of traditional, documentary style photography, I believe my images and portraits of Earth are an honest representation of the moment. I do not use captive animals from game farms, nor digitally manipulate my images to enhance their effect and marketablilty.

My goal is to portray and celebrate the beauty, the wildness and the delicacy of nature as it exists in the world around us, and to share these remote places with those who may never see them.

In my commercial photography, I work with several regional and national design agencies, and with not-for-profit organizations, including colleges, universities and prep-schools. My photographs appear in recruiting and fund raising publications that are distributed internationally.

I begin every project by simply listening to my client's needs and ideas. Then, on location, I work hard to develop a rapport with everyone I photograph, whether they are nine or ninety. In this way, we can create the kind of photographs that tell the story. The final results reflect an enjoyable experience for everyone, which goes a long way to making the project a success.
